In the aftermath of this unprecedented election, I’d like to take this time to remind you that, regardless of your political perspectives, the School of Kinesiology is a place where you are a valued community member. National leaders change, governments reprioritize, and people express their associated opinions and emotions. The School of Kinesiology values these diverse perspectives and is a better place because of them. This is a good time to reflect on our commitment to the School of Kinesiology being a place where differences are welcomed, different perspectives are respectfully heard, and every individual feels a sense of belonging and inclusion.

One thing that does not change is our commitment to be the leaders and the best in the diverse areas that Kinesiology has to offer.

As always, the campus events calendar shows all campus events, including opportunities for discussion related to the election, the CRLT is ready to support faculty with classroom discussions and enhanced learning, and the CAPS program has an amazing set of resources to support all of our community, including election-specific resources.

As President Schlissel reminded us yesterday, our mission is more important than ever “…to serve the people of Michigan and the world through preeminence in creating, communicating, preserving and applying knowledge, art, and academic values, and in developing leaders and citizens who will challenge the present and enrich the future.”
