The University of Michigan, along with most of higher-education, has been a strong supporter of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Executive Order.
More than 600 colleges, including U-M, have signed a letter of support.
As we await further action regarding DACA, we also will turn our attention to building support for the BRIDGE act. BRIDGE stands for Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy.
This legislation, introduced with bipartisan congressional support, would allow undocumented residents in the U.S. who arrived as children to stay in the country for another three years without the threat of deportation while Congress addresses changes to the immigration system. If you wish to take action to support BRIDGE, you will find information in the Q&A below on how to do that.
We will continue to work with higher education institutions and colleagues across the country to support our students and affected community members.
